Yes, its that time of year again. Back to school time. Kids and teens everywhere will be getting all new clothes and school supplies in preparation for that feared first day. They’ll all be packing their new backpacks, getting everything organized (for the first, and lets face it, the last time) and getting pumped about a new year. “What do I wear? What will my classes be like? Will I like my classes?”
But don’t be afraid. Starting school again is a fresh start. A chance to make a new impression, be who you want to be, and do as well as you can. You do want to do well, right? This is your chance to start with your best foot forward and be as prepared and ready to go as possible.
Now, if you’re not going back to school, as I suspect some of you aren’t (myself included), this is still a good chance to start anew. I always consider summer to be the last season of the year, with the fall being the new start to the seasons. Maybe this is just because my 16 years as a student have conditioned me to think this way, but I’m sticking by it. Plus, with all of the shopping deals and discounts out there around this time, how could you pass up a chance like this?
No fresh start would be complete without some new gear. And to us at Urban Adventurer, this means new bags. If you can’t tell by now, we’re crazy about bags! So here’s some of our favorites for starting fresh.
As you may have read in my post about Mount Mansfield, the Chacabuco Backpack is one of my new favorite backpacks. Maybe this is because it stands out, and I really love Orange. But I think new backpacks need to make a statement, and this one will not disappoint.
But what about other bags? The Overton Backpack by Ful is an awesome back to school bag – mainly because of all the fun colors. This bag has got a ton of room for carrying all your books, as well as gym clothes, lunch and anything else you’d want to take to school. Much better than bringing a separate gym bag and lunchbox. Plus its one of the cheapest bags on our website!
Another great bag is the Mobile Edge Academic Backpack. Don’t be fooled by the lame name. It’s a very durable backpack that will last for as long as you’re in school. Plus its got a media pocket with a headphones pass-through port. We didn’t have anything like this in my day. We had to expose our Walkmans out in the cold. And if you’re wondering what a Walkman is, then I feel REALLY old.
Lastly, if you’re looking for a way to show how ‘green’ you’ve become, check out the GreenSmart line of backpacks. Made of only recycled plastic bottles, these bags are a great way to be Eco-friendly. My favorite, the Kea Backpack in Mocha is super sleek. Along with the airmesh shoulder straps, you won’t be weighed down by all your new books and supplies.
Like messenger bags more than backpacks? Although, I prefer backpacks to messengers, I definitely love the Skooba Designs Compact Laptop Messenger bag. This bag seems to have every bit of organizational pocket you’ll ever need. With side pockets for your water bottle, a protected laptop compartment, lots of room for your books, and an organizer for pens, pencils and even a USB drive, the Compact Laptop Messenger is great for staying organized. And lets face it, we all need to be better organized.
